Is your case taking a long time? Follow these steps to see where your immigration application is in the process.
For cases pending with USCIS:
First, check your case status online, by going to www.uscis.gov. Scroll down the page and click Check your case status. Enter your Receipt Number (found on your Receipt Notice), and the current status of your case will be provided.
Second, go back to uscis.gov and click Check processing times. Enter your Form Type, Form Category, and Field Office or Service Center (found on your Receipt Notice). The average number of months it is taking to adjudicate your type of case will be listed. The date your application was received by USCIS is listed on your Receipt Notice.
Was your application filed longer ago than the average number of months listed in the processing times? You can file a Case Status Inquiry online to see why your case is outside of normal processing times.
Enter the information requested. You will receive an email response 30-60 days after submitting the request.
